Bisiklet - Neath Port Talbot

This ride uses the cyclepath alongside the River Tawe from the centre of Swansea, joining the Swansea Canal towpath in Clydach through to Pontardawe then a dismantled railway to Ystalyfera.

The High Level Route is a tough ride, climbing to almost 2000ft (600m). The route, which is part of the Celtic Trail, crosses the vast swathes of forestry that lie between Neath and Pontypridd with fantastic views north over the Black Mountain and down into the Vale of Neath.

A 3-mile section of the Cwm Dyffryn railway path through woodland that could not contrast more dramatically with the heavy industry of Port Talbot less than a couple of miles away. There is good access from Bryn south into the adjoining Margam Forest or north into the woodlands above Afan Argoed.

There are plans for the whole length of the Neath Canal from Briton Ferry to Glyn Neath to be restored to its former glory. This section from Blaengwrach to Resolven, alongside the A465 shows what it could look be like in the future.

32C: Neath to Chepstow

This route is all about the steeps and building up to the final Stage 4 steep.

starts at the carpark, goes straight up to S4, then a long fireroad climb to 6 ft under and then resurrection.

This is the most technical of all the trails in Afan Forest Park and is 90% purpose built singletrack.

Starting at Afan Argoed, this ride explores the forested hills above the river valleys, climbing to a highpoint of almost 2000ft (610m). The route descends into the valley of the Afan river where there are many signs of the area’s industrial past, not least the dismantled railway towards the end of the ride which is followed for several miles.
