Un itinéraire de la collection outdooractive "la famille Baume à vélo" de Vienne jusqu'à Trieste.

La quinta tappa di Adriabike attraversa il Carso con i suoi tipici ambienti: grotte, cavità, doline, fiumi sotterranei, lande pietrose e rada vegetazione. Lungo il tragitto s’incontra uno dei tre siti sloveni dichiarati Patrimonio dell’Umanità dall’Unesco, le Škocjanske jame (Grotte di San Canziano), un complesso di caverne e gallerie ricoperte da stalattiti e stalagmiti che è stato plasmato dal fiume sotterraneo Reka (Timavo). Si punta verso la cittadina di Kozina (Cosina), e da qui si raggiunge il villaggio di Črni Kal (Cernicale) e il suo caratteristico campanile storto. Poi si scende decisi lungo la valle del Rižana (Risano), raggiungendo il tracciato della ex- ferrovia Parenzana. Questa attrezzatissima ciclabile fiancheggia la Riserva Naturale Val Stagnon, porta a Koper (Capodistra), Izola (Isola) per poi giungere fino a Portorož (Portorose). The fifth stage of Adriabike crosses the Karst with its typical environments: caves, cavities, sinkholes, underground rivers, stony moors and sparse vegetation. Along the way you will come across one of the three Slovenian UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Škocjanske jame (Caves of St. Canziano), a complex of caves and galleries covered with stalactites and stalagmites that was shaped by the underground river Reka (Timavo). We head towards the town of Kozina, and from here we reach the village of Črni Kal (Cernicale) and its characteristic crooked bell tower. Then we descend decisively along the Rižana valley, reaching the route of the former Parenzana railway. This well-equipped bike path runs alongside the Stagnon Valley Nature Reserve, leads to Koper, Izola and Portorož.

This is a road cycling route from Bled to Piran which we did in 2015. Helia travel in Bled organised the accomodation, transport of our luggage and cycle hire. It was based on one of their standard tours: Best Of Slovenia Cycling Tour We bypassed Ljubjana because we had spent a couple oif days there before getting the bus to Bled to start the tour which started to the delightful and historic Hotel Triglav. I am not sure if the route here is accurate as we were stiull using paper maps and I plotted it from memory. In the seven years since we did this trip new cycle routes have probably been opened and there may be a better way round Koper.
