Direct cycling route from Goring to Portsmouth for ferry to France, Spain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Wight.

After the almost flat run down to Mottisfont there are a series of climbs in the middle part of the ride as it crosses the undulating downland to the west of Winchester. The final highpoint is reached just north of the A30 before a long descent to Leckford.

Travel from Hampshire into Wiltshire on the Clarendon Way and enjoy some wonderful scenery.

Leave town to the north, crossing the River Itchen at its exit from Old Alresford Pond. Before long you plunge into the network of tiny, quiet lanes that head northeast from Bighton. The ride turns south and climbs to the highpoint of the ride between Long Sutton and Golden Pot. There are pubs in each of the villages as you continue southwest to rejoin the outward route in Bighton and drop back down to New Alresford.

Good bike ride fast for the first section and mostly flat, the hills come in the second section.

The exit from Petersfield is the busiest road on the whole route, but before long you join much quieter lanes along the base of the South Downs. Glide down the Meon Valley before turning north and facing a series of climbs and descents through West Tisted and Ropley to Farringdon. The climb south from Selborne comes in two parts, taking you to the highpoint of the ride near Warren Corner and one of the best and longest descents in the book back down into Petersfield.

The ride runs south then east from Selborne, soon climbing to the highpoint of 755ft (230m). With the exception of one short climb it is downhill all the way to the Meon Valley. More ups and downs follow as you climb up to Teglease Down before dropping back down into the Meon Valley at Exton. North to Cheriton and east through Ropley back towards Selborne.
