Doğa yürüyüşleri - Barbados

A lovely walk around maintained paths within the Coco Hill Forest. The walk is mostly in shade under the tree canopy, but steep cliffs and rises give pleasant and very extensive views over a large area of coast and forest below.

Using largely very quiet roads up in the hills of Barbados this little walk gave us views of the countryside and historic inklings of the Plantation era. Some very nice Great Houses and views of both the East and West coasts from a few nice viewpoints.

An historical visit to a “Slave Hospital” ruin in the grounds of Grantley Adams School Barbados. The walk continued across Blackmans bridge over a gully. All in the area of Blackmans Plantation.

First few km takes you through the rural communities of Marley Vale and Bayfield. Then you have the choice of following the coastal path. We did it in the rainy season and it was very muddy in places but managed OK wearing running shoes. Very beautiful and good choice of reataurants to celebrate at the end. We took the bus back via Bridgetown - it leaves every hour (Sundays included).

The Barbados Commonwealth Walkway was drafted by the Trust in November 2016 following a brief visit as part of the 50th anniversary of Independence. 

Newton Burial Ground circular walk.

This was the route of the Great Train Hike I did with the Barbados Hiking Association.  It follows the route of the former Barbados railway.  Timing is slightly out here.  Started 06:00 in Bridgetown and arrived 14:45 in Belleplaine, with about an hour of rest stops in total along the way.  First part from Bridgetown to the coast mainly passes through sugar cane fields and quite fast going.   Along the coast is  slower and a little hilly in places.  The coastal views here, especially between Bath Beach and Bathsheba are excellent.  Last 3 miles from Cattlewash to Belleplaine were along the main road which wasn't so much fun.  The route itself isn't difficult, apart from the length.  However, the Barbados heat makes it challenging you are not used to it.
